Job Overview
We are looking to hire a hands-on Robot Service Technician to support the production, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of self-driving delivery robots. This role combines mechanical and electrical work, robotics service, field support, diagnostics, testing, and inventory management.
The ideal candidate has technician experience in automotive, manufacturing, robotics, or equipment service environments, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, advanced computer literacy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Robot Production & Assembly
- Assemble and service harnesses, cables, connectors, and electronic components for autonomous delivery robots.
- Install, replace, and test sensors including LiDAR, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors.
- Assemble and disassemble mechanical and electrical components according to specifications.
- Install custom electronic modules and related robotics hardware.
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a fleet of autonomous robots.
- Diagnose equipment breakdowns, investigate incidents, identify root causes, and complete service campaigns.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, including suspension systems, batteries, wiring, connectors, and electronic components.
- Use mechanical and electrical tools and measuring equipment to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Test repaired components and verify robot functionality and performance.
Field Service & Operations
- Travel between local locations to provide onsite technical and field service support.
- Support robot deployments, testing, repairs, and operational readiness.
- Assist with rapid prototyping, product testing, inventory management, and parts organization.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, repairs, testing, and inventory as needed.
Research & Development
- Support R&D experiments, prototype builds, testing, and new product initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to troubleshoot issues and improve robot reliability and performance.
- Adapt to changing priorities and support a variety of technical projects.
Required Qualifications
- Previous technician, service technician, maintenance technician, automotive technician, robotics technician, or manufacturing technician experience.
- Experience working with mechanical and electrical tools and measuring equipment.
- Ability to assemble and disassemble products and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Experience installing or working with electronic modules, wiring, connectors, and related components.
- Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret 2D mechanical drawings.
- Strong computer skills and advanced computer literacy.
- Strong attention to detail with a structured and logical approach to troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical team.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for the past 12 months.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing 50+ pounds.
- Comfortable working in field environments and traveling between local service locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in an automotive plant, dealership service department, manufacturing facility, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or similar technical environment.
- Experience troubleshooting robotic, electromechanical, automotive, or autonomous systems.
- Experience with LiDAR, cameras, ultrasonic sensors, batteries, wiring harnesses, or electronic components.
- Soldering experience.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, product testing, or R&D environments.
