Heavy Machinery Operator – Morgan Hill, CA
$45.00 per hour | Full-Time 
Work Location: On-site, Morgan Hill, CA (initial training week in Sunnyvale, CA)
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, alternating weekly:

  • Week 1: 3 days on / 4 days off

  • Week 2: 4 days on / 3 days off
    Travel: Up to 50% (to support field testing operations)


About the Role

Seeking experienced Heavy Machinery Operators to safely operate and support large-scale mining vehicles used in cutting-edge testing environments. You’ll perform routine inspections, assist with hardware and software tests, and provide feedback to engineering teams to enhance vehicle safety and performance.

This role is ideal for dependable, safety-focused professionals who are interested in learning about advanced and autonomous vehicle systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain 20-ton mining vehicles and other fleet equipment.

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs.

  • Report performance or maintenance issues promptly.

  • Support hardware and software testing, providing detailed written and verbal feedback.

  • Uphold strict safety and compliance standards.

  • Travel as needed (up to 50%) to support field testing.

  • Assist with additional operational tasks as required.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of verifiable heavy machinery operating experience.

  • Comfortable operating and backing 20-ton vehicles.

  • Ability to drive for extended periods.

  • Must pass DOT requirements, including a background check, MVR, physical, and drug test.

  • Clean driving record:

    • No more than two minor violations in the past 3 years.

    • No serious violations in the past 5 years.

    • No DUIs, DWIs, OUIs, or reckless driving (alcohol/drug-related) in the past 10 years.

    • No preventable accidents in the past 3 years.

  • CDL A license preferred but not required.

  • Strong communication skills and professionalism.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Interest in autonomous vehicle technology and willingness to learn new systems.
