Autonomous Vehicle Test Driver – Safety Operator (Self-Driving Cars) 
Location: Miami, FL (Local Applicants Only)
Pay: $25/hour + shift bonuses
Schedule: Full-time | Rolling Contract

About the Role
Join the future of transportation as an Autonomous Vehicle Operator (Safety Driver) in Miami, FL. You’ll help test and operate self-driving ride-hailing vehicles, ensuring safe, reliable performance on real roads. This is an on-site position for local Miami-area applicants who want to work hands-on with next-generation autonomous driving technology.

What You’ll Do:

  • Safely operate and monitor autonomous vehicles in real-world environments.
  • Take control when necessary to maintain safety.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report performance or safety issues.
  • Collect data, provide feedback to engineering teams, and support vehicle readiness.
  • Represent the brand with professionalism during all operations.

Training Provided (Paid)

  • Paid training in Las Vegas, NV (flights and hotel covered).
  • After training, daily operations resume in Miami, FL.

Pay & Schedule

  • $25/hour + up to 7% shift bonus for nights/weekends.
  • Day Shifts: 6:45 AM–3:15 PM or 7:45 AM–4:15 PM.
  • Night Shifts: 2:45 PM–11:15 PM or 3:45 PM–12:15 AM.
  • Rotating 5-day schedules: Wed–Sun, Thu–Mon, Fri–Tue, or Sat–Wed.

Requirements

  • Must live in Miami, FL and hold a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record — no DUIs or criminal history.
  • Ability to stay focused and alert for long driving sessions (up to 8 hours/day).
  • Strong communication and tech troubleshooting skills.

What you need to qualify

  • 3 years of Professional driving experience (rideshare, delivery, or commercial).
  • Regular Driver's licence with no gaps 
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or computer systems.

Hiring Process

  • On-site driving test (DMV-similar with cones, parking, and city navigation).

No CDL required, but applicants must have a valid driver's licence within the last three years sharp.

This role requires a standard background check and 10-panel drug screen with negative results prior to starting work. Additionally, ongoing random drug screenings will be conducted throughout your employment. Please acknowledge your understanding below.

There is a 90-day waiting period before you become eligible for holiday pay. Zoox operates 365 days a year, so holidays are considered regular workdays unless you request time off. Please acknowledge your understanding below.

If you work on a paid holiday, you will receive 1.5x your regular rate for the hours worked.*
Eligibility for employer subsidized medical, dental, and vision benefits begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service, which typically falls between 61 and 90 days. Please acknowledge your understanding below.*

For candidates in Miami:

In one of the final weeks of training, you will complete a "checkride." Upon passing, you will attend a 4-day follow-up training, which may require travel to another Zoox location.

HireArt will book your flight and hotel accommodations at no cost to you, and a per diem for meals and rideshare for getting to and from the site will be reimbursed.*

All Vehicle Operators will train on their respective Night or Day shifts as follows for the first 4-6 weeks.*
