Job Description

We are seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators and Articulated Haul Truck Drivers to join our client's growing autonomous vehicle technology team in the Morgan Hill / Sunol, California area.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced mining, quarry, and construction equipment operators to work with advanced vehicle technology while supporting the testing, safety, and performance of large mining vehicles.

The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience operating heavy machinery, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work closely with engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate large articulated haul trucks, excavators, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment.

• Operate and maneuver mining vehicles weighing approximately 20–40 tons.

• Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.

• Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).

• Identify and report mechanical issues, safety concerns, and equipment performance problems.

• Assist engineering teams with hardware and software testing.

• Provide accurate written and verbal feedback regarding vehicle performance.

• Follow all company safety procedures, DOT regulations, and operational guidelines.

• Maintain equipment readiness and assist with additional operational tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of verifiable heavy equipment operating experience.

• Experience operating articulated haul trucks, mining trucks, excavators, bulldozers, or similar heavy machinery.

• Comfortable driving, backing, and maneuvering large equipment.

• Ability to operate equipment for extended periods.

• Valid driver's license.

• CDL Class A preferred but NOT required.

• Ability to pass a background check and road test.

• Must pass DOT drug screening and physical examination.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Dependable, professional, and comfortable working as part of a team.

• Interest in learning about autonomous vehicle technology.

Driving Record Requirements

Candidates must meet the following standards:

• No more than 2 minor moving violations within the past 3 years.

• No serious traffic violations within the past 5 years.

• No DUI, DWI, or alcohol/drug-related reckless driving convictions within the past 10 years.

• No preventable accidents within the past 3 years.

• No preventable DOT-recordable commercial vehicle accidents within the past 10 years.

Work Schedule & Training

• Full-time, on-site contract opportunity.

• 12-hour shifts.

• Alternating workweeks:

  • Week 1: 3 days working / 4 days off.

  • Week 2: 4 days working / 3 days off.

• Initial training may take place in Sunnyvale, CA, for approximately one week.

• Primary operations are expected in Morgan Hill, CA.

• Up to 5% travel for field operations, with additional travel possible for training.
