We are helping an on-demand, autonomous vehicle company hire an engineering-focused Vehicle Technician to support the readiness of its fleet vehicles.
In this role, you will perform maintenance, repairs and contribute towards the operations of the lab. This will include scheduled service, diagnostics, repair coordination, lab space fit/function and general upkeep.
We're looking for someone with extensive knowledge of the maintenance and repair of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of prior technician experience.
Work schedule
Schedule is M-Friday - 5AM-2PM or PM Shift 2-10PM.
As a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, you'll:
- Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road usage (may need to travel locally to perform this work on occasion).
- Sync with the shop foreman to ensure all vehicles are in a “ready” state for demonstration and testing requirements.
- Perform diagnostics and escalate to the appropriate engineering team if required.
- Coordinate and drive the repair process.
- Create diagnostic test plans as the team sees fit.
- Maintain service records and document quality field reports.
- Maintain shop facilities, ensure tools are in order and workspace is in excellent working condition.
- Assist with parts inventory, location and organization.
- Build an excellent service experience for internal teams and business partners.

Auto Technician/Mechanic Requirements
- Required 3–5+ years automotive technician experience, or equivalent vocational/technical training.
- Proficient in diagnosing & repairing mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems (CAN, HV systems, sensors).
- Comfortable working with EVs and hybrid drive systems.
- Strong computer skills: diagnostic software, Google Suite, JIRA, database logging.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with engineers and the operations team.
- Strong safety-first mindset, familiar with OSHA or equivalent procedures.
Auto Technician/Mechanic Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an automotive-focused engineering or research lab (i.e. Dyno, Battery, etc.)
- Knowledge of CAN, wiring diagrams and soldering preferred
- Experience and ability to tow a car hauler and other large trailers to transport fleet vehicles
- Technical trade school certificate or associate degree in automotive repair
- Ability to travel locally and nationally (on occasion)
